A large group of students in the United States makeup a large population of English language learners. Students who are considered English language learners undergo many challenges in their education, and without the necessary support and resources from their educators it can make it hard for them to succeed. A teacher plays a significant role in the success of a child, and it is crucial for them to be able to provide the proper education to students whose first language is not English. It is also very important for teachers to understand the challenges that these students are facing. Having empathy towards the students allows for the teacher to create better connections and relationships to better help them.
The purpose for students to go through so many stages to reach their goal of becoming a teacher is to make them more informed and experienced about their career. The professional dispositions allow the students to know how to behave professionally, be ethically professional towards their students as well as colleagues, personally develop their skills as a preservice candidate, and successfully go through the all the stages to become a teacher. In my experiences from K-12, I have never considered a teacher to be unprofessional to my peers or myself. A teacher who comes to school dressed accordingly for work is considered professional.
The purpose of academia is to provide a firm foundation for children in the areas of scholastics, self-awareness and community. As the educator, I will facilitate and provide opportunities for students to establish this foundation by instructing a student- centered curriculum as well as allowing the students to learn from other stimuli. I will strive to ensure that each student leaves my classroom with improvement in the three areas of schooling. I believe that teachers should have a passion toward their students' welfare including the students’ scholastic standings.
Growing up, I always knew I wanted to become a teacher. I knew it would be challenging, but rewarding with many benefits to come. But no one ever told me it can result in me getting sued. I graduated from Rutgers University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and I was on my way to finishing up my teaching certification. The following school year I was set to start student teaching, but everything changed when the Superintendent of my old Middle School offered me position teaching math.
As I mentioned previously, I was the first family member to attend college, and while my family was there to support me they really didn’t understand the college process. Mrs. Gaines is a prime example of how a teacher can make a difference in a student’s life, without her help I may not have attended a four year university, and instead I probably would have opted to go a different route. What she did had a lasting impact on my life and I would like to do the same for my students. Whether that means helping a student through the college process, or assisting them with a dilemma they are facing outside of school. I want to pay it forward by using the teaching skills Mrs. Gaines taught me as well as the experiences we had and bring them into my classroom.
In the workforce, there are a lot of different aspects to take account for, there are the financial, management, planning, skills, work habits, labor issues, technology, and health/safety. Each job; no matter where you go will have these exact angles of the job. Being a teacher is a perfect example that symbolizes these traits of a job. A teacher is not just guiding students at the right path to success; it’s about the planning, working together with the other teacher in your grade, or subject. It’s about managing and keeping the students safe at all times.
In a classroom, you have to remember that every child is different. This means that instruction must be individualized to students in order to provide challenges and support to build on and develop positive attitudes about learning. My goal is to create children who are life-long learners and creative thinkers. I want to teach them to make good choices, work cooperatively, and most importantly to be kind and responsible. My role as a teacher is to give children the tools to grow their knowledge.
In order to comprehend the greatness in education, it is important to understand each of the aspects that make it so amazing. From the student’s eagerness to learn, the grading system and the teacher’s salary, there are many qualities that make the education system as fantastic as it is. Even if someone doesn’t love teaching it is a very rewarding job because of its generous salary. We often demonstrate as a society that we truly admire good teachers and are more than willing to pay them well for their work.
I went into training and I want to continue being a teacher because I love to make a positive difference. Training is a really fulfilling challenge, and as I love learning new things myself, I really enjoy that I get to share my interests. I have had a fantastic experience when it comes to education. I am really grateful to the teachers and trainers who I have had in the past as I feel that they have ignited my passion for learning and development. I was taught from a very young age that everyone should be given the opportunity to develop the skills they need to succeed.
My goal of teaching is to help students learn to appreciate the beauty of mathematics and to develop the ability to analyze and then solve problems. It is critical for studying mathematics to understand the profound ideas hiding behind the concepts and theories. I try to illustrate the original ideas such as how mathematicians think and solve problems. Also, a successful classroom consists of enthusiastic students ready to participate in discussions. The students should feel always comfortable in asking questions whenever having confusion or comments.
Teaching is a profession that makes all other professions possible and is a vital part of our society. No matter what path you choose in life, whether that be college, the military, or the job force, someone is going to be teaching you how to be successful in life. However, it is our job to use the knowledge that has been given to us to open doors for ourselves. Education is the key to success in all walks of life and teaching is giving a key to students to unlock their own potential.
As a teacher, I am learning how to write lesson plans more accurately, and figuring out two activities for the students, to make sure all are engaged with something in front of them that is constructive. I am learning that my lesson plans need to accommodate all intellectual abilities, learning styles, and personality. As a teacher, I am learning that some students can multitask and others cannot, utilizing this to their advancement is key. I am learning to become a more creative teacher with my lesson plans, thinking outside the box to make the lessons creative, enjoyable and educational for all students. I am learning what objects and tools students like to work with, and what tools and objects they would rather not work with to perform a
My prime directive as a teacher is to empower my students to live satisfying and productive lives. I want to help them develop three sets of skills — interpersonal, organizational and communication — that will help them in every profession and all areas of life. As a teacher, I get to teach someone else’s young adult child about the world and show them how to navigate it. My goal is to positively impact their lives and make them feel good about themselves while also teaching them English and debate. I genuinely enjoy being with them and especially love the most difficult of all ages — namely, 18+ teenagers.
Growing up I had great teachers who not only taught me, but also inspired me to want to be an amazing teacher just like them. The teacher who inspired me the most was my year 2 primary school teacher who taught me various subjects including English, Maths and Science. She also taught me valuable life lessons such as the benefits of helping and inspiring others. Even though my former teachers have played a pivotal part in my inspiration to teach, my main influence would have to be my youngest brother who was born when I was 10 years old. I spent a lot of time with him and was able help him to develop his skills.
My personal goals for this semester is to gain the tools needed to be a successful teacher. I want to feel confident in how to lead a productive organized classroom. I want to gain the confidence that I can ensure parents and students that I will provide a classroom setting that is filled with context while providing a safe and enjoyable environment. I want to gain strategies of differentiation while creating a well-balanced, inclusive classroom.
