Teaching Philosophy Statement

In my role as a future educator, I intend to balance the fulfillment of the curriculum's objectives with respect for the distinctive personalities of the students I will teach. I possess a strong preference for the care pedagogy method of education. Integrating care pedagogy into the classroom places the responsibility of providing a safe and caring environment on the educator and emphasizes the value of developing a rapport with the students so that they feel supported.
I would like my future students to view me as a compassionate role model through my actions of promoting appropriate self-validation. I will actively work to establish a great deal of importance on my students' character growth as well as their success in education. My idea …show more content…

Therefore, a teacher's approach to a subject, or how they interact with a student, will have an impact on the overall learning experience for all associated parties. There have been two distinct occasions throughout my personal educational career that have influenced the way I view teaching and learning. Both occasions have been shaped by the choices and the actions of the educators.
During one of my more recent classroom observations, the teacher had introduced the influence of Native American assimilation with her students as part of their study in westward migration throughout American history. The instructor chose to incorporate a broad overview of the acts of genocide that occurred against the Native Americans living in California during the Gold Rush era. She chose to supplement her lecture with secondary literature for the students to personally review. There is a small group of these rules that I consider to be most authentic in my field of teaching. The two principles in the 1975-adopted NEA Code of Ethics refers to an educator's commitment to both their students and the profession. I considered several of the obligations from these principles to be critical to the ethics teaching and learning. For instance, in creating a safe learning environment in the age of multicultural America, obligation number six under the first principle states that educators shall not discriminate, on any bias, against any of their students, which would result in excluding students from learning activities, receiving benefits, or the possibility of a student receiving advantages separately from their peers (NEA,
