I believe that every student can reach their learning potential, with high expectations, support through differentiated learning opportunities, and a caring classroom. I support each student by greeting them every day as they enter the classroom, so that they
A large group of students in the United States makeup a large population of English language learners. Students who are considered English language learners undergo many challenges in their education, and without the necessary support and resources from their educators it can make it hard for them to succeed. A teacher plays a significant role in the success of a child, and it is crucial for them to be able to provide the proper education to students whose first language is not English. It is also very important for teachers to understand the challenges that these students are facing. Having empathy towards the students allows for the teacher to create better connections and relationships to better help them.
What do you currently teach and where? I am a December graduate of the University of Charleston. I graduated magna cum laude. After graduation I began substituting. I substituted at a variety of schools in Kanawha County in a variety of grades.
I know that at times my strategies will not go as I plan them to go but I know that with my support system and the effort I put into my schooling, I will succeed. I believe that every child deserves to have access to quality education. Getting to know each student is a great way to promote an inclusive environment and get to know their cultural backgrounds. Having a safe and welcoming environment will play an important role that I will implement when I have my classroom.
Teaching is important to me because I feel that every child should have a place where they feel cared for and believed in. Since school is where most children spend the majority of their day, being a teacher is a perfect career to provide this safe place for them. I have had a passion for working with kids since my childhood and every year, that deepens as I watch more and more kids grow emotionally, as well as academically. I want to help students reach their potential in every aspect of their life while fostering their love of learning. With these motivations to become an educator, I have found myself resonating most with the Humanistic learning theory.
On September 14th one of Professor Dresser’s former students visited our Education class to discuss what it is like to be a teacher. Ian Cole is now a teacher at a private school in Yonkers. Ian has taught many subjects including social studies, science, and gym. Also, he has taught grades six to eight over the past two and a half years. He expressed the amount of experience he has had with student behavior, teaching techniques, and student learning methods.
As a teacher, I believe in building relationships based on students’ needs, strengths, and cultural differences. All of my students learn best when they are part of a community, everyone feels accepted, and individuality is encouraged. I plan to incorporate these same ideas when embarking on my new role as a supervisor. Building a relationship with each of my staff members will allow them to feel empowered and lead to a cooperative teaching and learning environment. In turn, this will foster an active learning community.
Staring the beginning of my career as a teacher, I'm moving towards having my own classroom. Being a head teacher you are in charge of what is begin taught in the classroom, and find ways to prepare the children for the next coming years. Working with children ages three too five is the beginning of the child's life, were its important age on who they are as an individual. The school I would like to work with would be public, a spot were all children are welcome, no matter the back ground or were their from. Children at this age are excited to go to school, and meet new friends this age is were their spirits beginning and their enthusiastic.
It is my belief that through education. An individual will receive the vital skills and tools that they need to build a successful and prosperous life. Within the educational setting a student should be encouraged, challenged, have their creativity sparked, and feel safe to take risks in learning. I believe as teachers, it is our duty to ensure learning takes place in a safe and supportive environment. I believe that teachers should help develop and foster positive relationships in the academic setting and among students.
I believe that each student is a matchless individual who needs a safe, encouraging environment to flourish. As an educator, my goal is to help students grow socially, emotionally, and intellectually to achieve their wildest dreams through gaining lifetime learning skills. Like the Progressive education philosophy, I believe children should learn by pursing answers for their questions through problem solving and critical thinking activities such as analyzing, synthesizing, classifying and predicting. Students need to discover for themselves and practice skills in different lifelike situations. In my classroom, students use hands-on activities, internet resources, and small group discussions.
I will allow students to give input and share thoughts to further the learning process and build upon one other’s knowledge. I believe that each child is unique and needs a supportive, fair, and safe environment in which to grow. I will help my students learn to respect themselves, others, and the school. Students need an environment where they know what is expected of them and why it’s expected.
Students will be encompassed by vivid colors, vast displays of their own work and personalized areas in which each student can claim ownership. Students will sit five to a table to cultivate a sense of community and engaging interactions. Each child will strive to foster healthy and social relationships with all individuals in the classroom in order to learn from the experiences of others. I want my classroom to be an open environment where the learners are the main focus. Like progressive education, I believe education stems from the experience of each child.
My classroom will be full of joy and excitement. Positive energy will be given off by all people. My students will feel safe inside and outside the classroom because my goal is to create an environment that is safe for all. Each student has the right to learn and succeed. Each child has the capability of learning something new everyday.
I will give them the knowledge and guidance to ensure their success in their education and future. I want to challenge my students and give them the tools to succeed, not only in my class but in their lives. I understand that not all students learn the same way or at the same speed, but I will do everything in my power to provide them with the knowledge and the tools to succeed. I will take into consideration that my students have diverse needs and I will assist each one of them to meet those needs. I will learn about all of my students’ cultural backgrounds so that I can create lesson plans that will meet their needs.
