I was born and raised in Topeka, Kansas. In my family I am the 7th of 10 children. Through the years I have been a nanny for four families. I was able to help them with their homework, teach them important skills, and learn from them. I enjoy running, camping, playing sports, attending sporting events and exploring historical sites. After receiving my bachelors and teaching for a few years I would like to further my education by earning a master’s degree.
As a teacher, I will create an environment that fosters learning. Teachers who demonstrate curiosity and passion for learning can motivate students to learn. Creating a curriculum around students’ interests, promotes motivation and the desire to learn. I will allow students to give input and share thoughts to further the learning process and build upon one other’s knowledge.
I believe that each child is unique and needs a supportive, fair, and safe environment in which to grow. I will help my students learn to respect themselves, others, and the school. As a teacher, my role is to help every student succeed. To achieve this goal I will teach the students according to their needs so all learners feel capable of success. I will present material that is of interest to the students and will help them become knowledgeable members of society. I will integrate projects, group work, individual work, hands-on work, and class discussion into my curriculum. I will help my students become active learners. As a teacher, I will encourage collaborative learning, prompt my students to create their own questions, and allow different interpretations while learning.
