Leadership Philosophy Intro
Leadership is privilege that bears the responsibility to motivate others. It is a privilege that carries with it the responsibility to inspire others, and to direct them to achieve the vision and goals of the organization. The greatest asset to the Coast Guard are those who rise to the challenge every single day. As a leader it is my responsibility to establish a relationship with these individuals, so that I can support them on a professional and personable level. Additionally, understanding their motivation and goals in which they strive towards, offer me the opportunity help them grow within the Coast Guard.

I will be sharing my top five values which I live by and apply to my leadership philosophy. First and foremost is health, living a healthy lifestyle gives you the ability to live life to the fullest degree. Too often we take our health for granted, but without a healthy life, we are unable achieve success in our everyday life. Secondly, “faith” is a personal value which I find to be important. Faith in leadership offers clear guidance on how we integrate our life principles and convictions into the duties of our career. The third most important value in my leadership is family. Having a clear purpose in your life for the daily sacrifices, creates a meaningful work environment. Everyone’s family looks a little different, however we all have a loved one who gives us that purpose in life. My fourth personal value which I live by is integrity. The value of integrity requires holding yourself accountable, accepting responsibility, and facing the consequences of your actions. Lastly, I identify “happiness” as my fifth value in my personal leadership philosophy. This not only establishes a positive work environment, but it also creates a sense of belonging and the atmosphere to grow as an individual. A stronger sense of happiness leads to healthier relationships, increased social connections, and contributes to an overall healthier life. These five personal values are unique to my leadership fundamentals; however, they closely intertwine with several other important values that have molded me into the leader I am
