When the healthcare system use the six sigma and lean to improve they are looking at business operations, case management and outcome. The six sigma is used to identify the defects in a process and correct them where a process will have almost no defects. Lean in the methodology is used to reduce waste in a process and to improve the workflow. Most people do not know that healthcare uses this methodology and it will give a better understanding of how the healthcare system know what areas that they need to improve in. In the healthcare system a lot of surgical teams uses this method when they are brainstorming the quality of care for the patient. I have a better understanding on how the hospitals and clinics come up with how many patients they can treat without insurance and how technology is used to advance within the healthcare system.

Also it is based on the performance of the hospitals and clinics when it comes to their process/procedures. The article showed the difference between hospitals that received a Baldrige award had a better patience experience verse the hospitals that did not receive the award. Furthermore, when HCPE is used in the hospitals they have the highest achievement of patient safety and loyalty. I have a better understanding of awards that I see in the hospitals/clinic.
