On September 13, 1983, Delbert Bakers was found dead at the school of cosmetology he owns in Auburndale, Florida. Bakers suffered three gunshot wounds and throat slashed. In a suburb outside St. Louis known as Ferguson on August 9, 2014, Michael Brown, a black unarmed teenager was shot and killed by a white police officer, Darren Wilson. The South was reluctant to give up slavery for various reasons. The Dred Scott v. Sandford case set precedent for other cases with similar conflicts. This case also provided reasons for the Civil War to occur between the North and South.
