When you think of Lgbtq+ do you think of what each letter means or do you think of the things that happened to get where we are today in the lgbtq community. Well diving more into the lgbtq community "in the 1960s it was illegal for lesbians, gays, bisexual, and transgender people to gather to drink or dance". (gale). So most of the bars would not serve people that were a part of the lgbtq community because they were afraid of the police raids, the fines and even the loss of there liquor license could all transpire if they were to serve to anybody that was a part of teh lgbtq community. The only bar that would serve the lgbtq people was the stone wall inn in Greenwich village, New york.

As of now, discrimination of a certain race being higher than another, is not the only problem. LGBT people around the U.S. are being harassed, discriminated, and freedoms and rights are being taken away. A person’s sexual orientation can force them to not eat at a particular restaurant, adopt a child, or even buy a simple wedding cake.

But, there are still many states that do not have any laws protecting LGBTQ+ people. Such as Michigan ; according to The Rolling Stone, “The Guardian's 2012 survey showed that Michigan has almost no protections for LGBT people at any level, putting it on par with Mississippi. The Charter of Rights and Freedoms has allowed a rapid advancement of the rights of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Canadians hereafter referred to as the queer community. The Charter’s guarantee of equality for all inspired a rights- based approach to queer rights that led to the queer community being granted the same rights as heterosexual men and women ultimately culminating in the legalization of same- sex marriages. This advancement in rights has primarily proceeded through the Courts as they proved much more willing to recognize the rights of the queer community than the government of Canada. The objective condition in the case of abortion entails the question whether abortions are legal, who obtains an abortion, and under what circumstances is an abortion secured (Henslin, 2008). The second component is the subjective condition; This is the concern that a significant number of people have regarding the objective condition. In the case of abortion, the personal condition involves distress that a pregnant woman must carry the unwanted baby to full term (Henslin, 2008).

Racial and ethnic divisions are still key issues in society, today. Instead of working together, different racial and ethnic groups are trying to outscore each other, which distracts them from resolving key issues they have in common. Another social problem that concerns me is poverty. The standard of living is on the rise. It is almost impossible for people that are born into low income families to rise any higher, because the costs of even basic needs are higher than what most low income families earn.
Gay Community The gay community is a community that has gotten stronger and stronger as years go by. Not only does it get stronger but it grows as well. It is a community that has united many people and sadly has also split many others. In some sense this is a very complicated community because all though it is accepted by 60% of Americans in the United States there is a 40% of Americans who do not accept homosexuality and believe it is a sin (Christopher).
Social Problems in Societies Social problems are issues which are considered to affect majority if not all members of a society either directly or indirectly. Whenever people come to live together in a social setting, conflict arises from their differences in opinions regarding political issues, religion, ethnic issues, cultural practices and other health and hygiene issues. In such a situation, we can say a society inevitably develops social problems. The various social issues present today vary from society to society, and as such, we cannot say that all societies face similar social issues.
