I am applying for the position of Circle of Friends President for the school year of 2017-2018 because I have come to appreciate and value this club throughout my high school years at Mountain Brook High School. I have witnessed great leadership skills from the past COF Presidents and I believe that I would contribute to this club with unique ideas and a fresh new outlook on this club. Circle of Friends is more than just a club to me, it’s a group of people who I have come to admire and respect. I have made strong, everlasting friendships with not only the special education students, but also the members of the club who dedicate their time at the meetings and social events. One leadership role that I took on was at my church in my youth group when we worked at a house in Tennessee. I was the oldest of the group and I realized that we were missing a leader and that the work was not going to get done by itself. I decided to take responsibility and I became a leader and we ended up working together well as a team and getting things done on time. Another time I have taken over a leadership role was earlier this year in February. My junior year of cheerleading was coming to a close and I was getting ready to try out for my senior year. I knew I had big shoes to fill in my new role as a senior cheerleader. I decided to step up and take on a leadership role that was new but also had many positive benefits. There are four other senior cheerleaders and without them stepping up and taking a leadership role as well, I do not believe I would have been able to fill all of the responsibilities required without them. Lastly, I am an aunt of a nine year old boy and a two year old girl. I have learned to take lots of responsibility when i am around them and I have had to take on a leadership role in order to be a role model to
