Dear Nathan Cashin and First Evangelical Missionary Church Board,

What a pleasure and privilege to be under consideration for serving as pastor of First Evangelical Missionary Church. I believe God has been preparing me for pastoral work throughout my life as my Father and spiritual leader, most recently through my position as Director of Young Adult and Senior Youth Ministry at Hillside Evangelical Missionary Church (Heb 12:5-11).

I came to faith in Christ during my time at Trent University. Though I had learned of Jesus growing up, this was when he became the centre and purpose of my life. Spending time in prayer and ministering to others, I have received confirmation of this call. James Park of Trinity EMC is the greatest influence for me to pursue work as a pastor within the EMC, providing preaching opportunities at his church, prayer, example, and encouragement. Serving at Hillside Church, God has been taking the vision of being a pastor that would equip and raise up others in their gifting to fulfill his calling on their life and provided the opportunity to do that with youth and young adults. Facilitating Bible studies, teaching, and delivering sermons has allowed me to teach and apply the Bible, teach how to study Scripture, and allow God to transform us, being led by the Holy Spirit in the message he wants to share and how he wants it shared to have the most impact. Together a community has developed, spending time together in encouragement over a potluck meal, praying for one another’s needs and in intercession for our world. I have learned how to speak in a way that is exciting, relevant, easy to understand, and concise. The Holy Spirit is revealing to me the topics and passages of Scripture to share that need to be heard at to take others the next step in their relationship with him. I had one of our gifted volunteers lead worship with youth, and formed another worship team with my wife and I, led by a talented youth. The Canadian Youth Network has provided youth conferences and programs, with local leaders meeting for prayer, mentorship, encouragement, and planning collaborative youth and young adult events. One of these events is worship gatherings, which I enjoyed hosting at our church one month. A worship team from Newmarket led, with one of my youth sharing their testimony. The message God gave me really spoke to those present, on idolatry and the story of Gideon. The prayer time was based on what Trinity and Southland Church call a “Prayer Summit,” an engaging prayer time, led with prayer points and verses on the screen for a few minutes each, focusing on adoration, communion, thanksgiving, and intercession, followed by a time of praying in partners for one another’s
