Underneath the nobles and barons, there are knights that are trained from the age of 7. In return for service to the nobles and barons, they are given grants of land. The peasants and serfs are on the bottom of the social system, there are peasants who farm the land in return for shelter and protection (history.com). This compares with
How did late medieval governments shape life in positive and in negative ways? The government shaped life in a positive way by protecting the kingdom from invaders and keeping people safe. The monarchs had armies and lots of knight at their disposal. The knights had a code of honor so they were nice to women and others.
They had the least wealth and respect but without them the two kingdoms couldn’t continue. There were three sub-categories of peasants in both societies: Farmers were the wealthiest peasants as they had their own land where they would dwell and also harvest crops to sell to the rest of the kingdom. The craftsmen/artisans were the second wealthiest peasants. They would craft armour and weapons and make work with metal and wood. The merchants were the least wealthy of all the peasants because they were completely dependent on other people to give them work.
The serfs probably worked the hardest providing food and services when demanded (Doc. 1). They only got one day a week to farm for themselves (Doc. 2). Knights had to provide protection and military service to nobles. They also had to provide a place to stay if their noble visited (OI). Lastly, nobles were expected to provide money and knights to the king (Doc. 1).
In the story, Maniac Magee Jerry Spinelli really developed collaborativeness for Maniac throughout the book. One reason Jerry Spinelli showed collaborativeness is when Maniac met Amanda and Maniac started to collaborate with her, the first thing Maniac said was, “are you running away?” Maniac started to talk to Amanda about how he was running away, and why she had a suitcase. Maniac had no clue who Amanda was, and if Maniac kept running during that scene the story would of went a whole other way.

Commoner enjoyed few liberties while the nobles and clergy enjoyed tremendous privileges. Peasants hoped for affordable food and reduced tax burden, while educated bourgeoisie wanted civil liberties, secure property rights and a role in governing
The History Channel 's television series, Vikings, combines many elements of realism and fantasy. In Helen Young 's Re-making The Real Middle Ages, she points out how the media commercializes the whole idea of vikings, perhaps, in order to sell to more audiences by adding historically inaccurate elements such as supernatural aspects and unrealistic repeated triumph of the main action hero. Some realistic elements present in the show are the use of native language, brutal violence. It was also realistic how vikings raided, killed, stole treasure, and burned down the remainder of the town bringing back a few townspeople to sell as slaves. Some fantasized elements on the other hand happened in the beginning where a mysterious being in a black
Beginning with the emergence of the Middle Ages, it is safe to say that men completely overshadowed women. The concept of the Medieval Period was taken over by thoughts of the male gender. Perhaps, it is safe to say women in the Medieval Period were neglected Not only did the women lack appreciation, they were also stripped of some of the most basic rights that men possessed. Unfair laws at the time stated that women could not marry without their parents’ consent, and to make matters worse, they also couldn’t divorce their husbands. Another outrageous law stated that women could not inherit land if she had surviving brothers .
Women of the Medieval Times Women have always had a significant role in history even though they were treated horrible in most cases. During the Medieval Times was really the first time women were allowed to become more than just a house wife. The fight for equality has always been a struggle and even in today’s society is still an ongoing battle. Although women of lower and middle class were treated poorly in the Medieval Times, some powerful women held great responsibility and were looked up too by both men and children; despite being admired, “men were thought to be not only physically stronger but more emotionally stable, more intelligent, and morally less feeble” (Hopkins 5). “The position of women in the Medieval Society was greatly influenced by the views of the Roman Catholic Church” (Heeve).
From the past, people of same or different regions differentianted from one another in their religious beliefs such as Jews, Muslims, and Christians. Certainly, while differences were accepted, there were times those differences caused conflicts and refected. I think when there was a religious heterogeneity it resulted in tolerance, otherwise, religious homogeneity resulted in persecution. During the Middle Ages, Jews were faced Muslim tolerance, but they were also faced persecutions by Christians. Both sides had own judgements for their actions.
The later events in the middle ages greatly impacted the lives of the Europeans. These events were the Great Schism, the Great Famine and the Black Plague. The Great schism was when the France and Rome collaborated with their religious pope and court, but in result to that Avignon started to overpower them and they preceded to fight. The members of the church started to feel their steady religious environment become unbalanced leaving them baffled. The Great famine started when the lands started to become overworked and the weather started to get bad in 1315, which caused the incapability of growing crops through 1000-1400 C.E.
A peasant wrote this source. Peasants were considered as the labourers of the land who worked under lords and served them. They were ranked near the bottom of the feudal system. Introduction Women in the Middle ages were treated as the second class members within their social class. They were taught to be obedient to their husbands and were expected to run the household and raise children. Their role in the society, however, was much more complex, while some medieval women achieved a high level of equality with men. In the Middle Ages women had a secondary role, coming second after men.
Middle ages marriages in lower social classes as in peasants are usually arranged by their parents. After marriage most of the women would dress more plain to not to draw any attraction to herself. After the marriage the women would lose all the power in the household to her husband. Most women during the time would own land that is past down to them by their father and later would be forced to give up to their husband. The women would usually tend the children, husband and do the chores around the house while the men would be able to go out and earn money for the family.
