Nowadays, everyone knows that the English language is very important for many fields. Especially, in the medical, most of the medical knowledge often uses the English language. Thus, for the second year of the medical program in SWU, medical students need to learn the MDG 202 subject to practice speaking and presentation skills. In the course, it has been focused on developing two these skills, so my three friends and I practice together and develop presentation skills, which I will tell the reflection and feedback from selecting the topic after the presentation. First of all, I chose the closest topic to the lifestyle of medical students who had to read many books and more not enough to rest, so the source of the topic was "Snoring to Death".
With a title like The Chocolate War you would think it is nothing more than a feisty Willy Wonka fan-fiction, but this book has more caused controversy than you would believe. Published in 1974 by Robert Cormier, the book has received praise from many critics and has won several awards. What was supposed be seen as an innocent tale about a young boy being a leader of a cult has been challenged by several schools and has been officially added to the American Library Association's list of banned books. To my surprise, The Chocolate War was the most challenged book in 2004.
I was most engaged in this course when I was doing the research for this paper. Filtering through all the research and figuring out what is valuable information was the most exciting part for me. Additionally, finding information and connecting it to a suspect is the most satisfying part of my job. Writing the actual research paper has been the second most engaging thing during this course. It is difficult for me because I know I am not a great writer, but there are improvements in my writing since starting college.
Most of the time, books are challenged because they contain bad language or violence, sex, homosexuality, witchcraft, or racist or sexist language.
Would you want anyone to ban books so you couldn’t further your education? School Board members should not ban certain books because students can get more of a challenge from certain books, you also can get many life lessons from a more mature book, and students also get more of a choice which means more books to read. One reason I believe school board members should not ban books is because it gives students more of a challenge. For example, teachers like to challenge kids to read above their grade level and reading more mature books will get them there. However, how will they get assigned harder or more challenging books if those kinds of books are banned from the school library.
Books can create portals to different life experiences and encourage reading. A few schools and libraries have challenged the educational value of some books, however, therefore leading them to eventually be prohibited in a particular place. Each reason may be different depending on the book and the location of the exclusions. Books are icons of literature and their value should outshine the occasionally offensive topic. Be that as it may, there are multiple reasons why books should be taught and included in a curriculum.
Everyone needs to struggle in order to preform better. Writing has always been a strength of mine, but I found it a challenge to move from the high school, six-paragraph essay format that I had grown accustomed to. Throught the course of this semester, I was able to acquire many different skills in ENG 1101 that have helped me transition into more complex writing. English 102 Reflection During the course of English 102, I took this year of the spring semester. I have accomplished a variety of goals I once thought were impossible. I have not only grown as a writer and a student but as an individual as well. I feel that through my experience of this English course, I have achieved knowledge and self-confidence to step out into the real world.

Parents making up most of the challenges for “Banned and Challenge Book Week” (Manning par 3) to be censored shows that they are uncomfortable with the decisions on keeping inappropriate books and lessons in the school system. School materials can cause division in the classroom, with parents and the curriculum. Controversial topics such as politics, religion, race, and sexual orientation can easily cause a ruckus within our schooling system. For instance, in a work setting, there are rules in place and guarded by the HR department so employee conversations would not get out of hand like censorship for schools. In school, books can lead to conversations that are inappropriate for school-age pupils.
