Rock and Roll would never be the same, the whole genre was changed. Nobody talked about the genre the same after one of the most revolutionary artists in Rock and Roll left their mark. Rock and Roll sounded better, groovier, and more musical. Richard Wayne Penniman, also known as Little Richard, had a sound that is considered one of the best Rock & Roll sounds in history. From being inspired and amazed by local blues and gospel bands, Little Richard became an inspiration to other musicians. He set a new bar for Rock and Roll standards. Whenever Little Richard had the chance to get up on stage, he would do his best to put his all into his performances. Little Richard had once said “I meant what I did and I did what I meant.” (BrainyQuote) During any recordings or performances, Little Richard played his music from the deep depths of his soul. He truly expressed his feeling and emotions through his music. When Little Richard recorded most of his hit songs with the record label RCA, he conveyed his true emotions about his troublesome relationship with his father and rough upbringing. Richard went through a lot of discrimination and bullying throughout his life. However, this didn’t stop him from reaching his Rock and Roll excellency. He would play a show and get heckled off of the stage by racist white people. After a show, he would be insulted by the venue owner and not be fully paid. Also, his record label ripped him off. Richard stated, “I had signed a very bad deal with Specialty. If you wanted to record, you signed on their terms or you didn't record. I got half a cent for every record sold. Whoever heard cutting a penny in half! It didn't matter how many records you sold if you were black. The publishing rights were sold to the record label before the record was even released. ‘Tutti Frutti’ was sold to Specialty for $50.” (Carlie Porterfield Forbes) Little Richard had to sit there and be taken down by the hate that was given, or he could ignore it and chase his dreams. Little Richard didn’t give up, and he then went on to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
