School Position
School position in the system of schools can be influenced by a variety of factors. For Loganlea SHS, its geographic location and demographic characteristics plays an important role in hampering school success. People living in a low SES within the Loganlea suburb tend to restrict children development and lower academic aspirations and expectation of their children. A number of parents with low level of education attainment are likely to underestimate the value of education and academic capability, as a result, they have less participation and support for the school. As a state/government school, the flow of income at Loganlea SHS mostly comes from the funding allocated by Australia Government and state and territory government. A small amount of money may come from parents. In addition, money for purchasing uniforms, food in tuck shops and enrollment in extracurricular activities and programs account for a small percentage of school income. According to the annual report, Loganlea SHS may increase school income by promoting a number of extra curricula activities, such as Youth Development Program, Arts Program, Cattle Show Team, Science, Maths and Sports Competitions, camp-based programs and leadership program. In order to promote vocational education, Loganlea SHS has a close bond with a variety of institutions (e.g., Griffith University, University of Queensland and South Institute of TAFE ) and as well as a number of organizations, such as (e.g., Beacon and the Ardoch Foundation and Agricultural Training Group). These connections may provide students with a range of learning experience and opportunity. As a result, the hands-on approach and practical work-related experience may increase student motivations and facilitate certificate completion. In addition, Loganlea SHS has strong links with sister schools in China. It is highly likely that joint programs (e.g., cultural and language exchange trip) for students enrolled in Chinese subjects may boost student interests in learning the
