Lois Ann Hammersberg's Life And Accomplishments

Lois Ann Hammersberg ( Lois Lowry) was born on March 20, 1937 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her parents were Katherine and Robert Hammersberg. Her father worked as an Army doctor and her mother was a house mom and a kindergarten teacher. She had two siblings, one older sister named Helen and one younger brother named Jon. Since her father was an Army dentist, they would move around the world when growing up.

Since she moved to several places, when growing up, she would go to different schools each time. When she was six years old she went to Franklin School in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. In that time Lois spend a happy childhood, which helped her in her writing career. Then in 1948, she moved to Tokyo, Japan, she went to a special school for military families.

Then in 1954, she entered brown University, where she met her husband then two years later she and her husband, Donald, moved to San Diego,

Lois Lowry grew up in a home with lots of books because her mother was a teacher. Her mother would often read books to her. When she was eight or nine years old she decided that when she was older, she wanted to be a writer.

Lois Lowry published a lot of books, some of her career-awarding books was the book “Number the Stars”, and it is a book about the World War 2.
