Lois Ann Hammersberg ( Lois Lowry) was born on March 20, 1937 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her parents were Katherine and Robert Hammersberg. Her father worked as an Army doctor and her mother was a house mom and a kindergarten teacher. She had two siblings, one older sister named Helen and one younger brother named Jon. Since her father was an Army dentist, they would move around the world when growing up.
Since she moved to several places, when growing up, she would go to different schools each time. When she was six years old she went to Franklin School in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. In that time Lois spend a happy childhood, which helped her in her writing career. Then in 1948, she moved to Tokyo, Japan, she went to a special school for military families. …show more content…

Lois Lowry grew up in a home with lots of books because her mother was a teacher. Her mother would often read books to her. When she was eight or nine years old she decided that when she was older, she wanted to be a writer.

The only reason why German invaded Denmark because, Adolf Hitler had to control Denmark’s air bases and the country itself, so that it would be easier it attack Norway. Denmark was ruled by the Germans for 5 years which was until 1945. Most Danes in Denmark were pro-british and anti-nazi.
