In the 21st century, Technology is constantly emerging with rapid advancement invading homes all around the world. Rather than arguing the benefits of advanced technology, parents must realize the connection within these devises have resulted in a disconnection to society and psychological deficits of young children. Technology is both a "great social and learning tool and full of potential dangers" (Wong 2010) but the real problem is whether or not parents are conscious of the "impact and quality of parenting that children receive" (Mcdaniel 2016) and how it is provoking long term effects mentally, socially and physically. It is paramount that parents implement structure in limiting on-screen and technology use during critical development stages. Children depend on their parents to advocate on their behalf, nurturing them to a successful long lived future without disability. Continuing to allow such overuse is compromising the minds of children in addictive behavior patterns, social and cognitive motor skills, and influencing poor health and obesity.
