A leader to one may not be a leader to all, but a respected leader is recognized as the best. A group of boys stranded on an island starts the tale of Lord of Flies by William Golding leading to an adventurous tale. This takes place in World War II surrounding the life of young British Boys. The boys on the island vote to decide on a chief among themselves and Ralph comes out victorious. Although Ralph is not the oldest or strongest, the little ones follow him endlessly through the well-earned respect that shines in his leadership.
In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, because of three defining moments, Jack changed the most out of all the boys. The first of the moments that changed him occurred in the beginning of the novel on page 23 when Ralph was chosen to be the chief of the boys instead of Jack. Jack was upset at not being chief, but he still took a position of leadership by making the choir boys the hunters and volunteering to be in charge of them. Ralph says “Jack’s in charge of the choir. They can be-what do you want them to be?’’
In a group, there are always people who prove to have better leadership skills then others and the strongest people can most likely influence the weaker people into obeying them. However, the strongest person sometimes isn’t the the best leader. In the book, “Lord of the Flies” written by William Golding, Ralph and Jack fight silently to be the leader of the boys on the island. Of the two, I believe that Ralph is a better leader because he has a better understanding for the boys and stayed on track on getting rescued instead of having “fun”. He also has more common sense and treats the boys better than Jack and although Jack’s actions help the boys physically survive, Ralph’s “civilized” leadership allowed him to keep the boys under control.
After Ralph hands the role of leader of the hunter to him, Jack decides that he wants to be leader of the whole camp, and devises a plan to gain that power. He uses his skills as a hunter to assert himself above Ralph as a leader. Jack is very keen to have the rules nearer to the beginning of the novel, but he never actually keeps them. His position as a hunter excludes himself from keeping some of the smaller tasks, such as building shelters or keeping the fire. Jack usually downplayed the ideas of the little un’s, he viewed them more as babies, this led to the conflict between Jack and Ralph when the signal fire goes out.
Out of all of the characters on the island, I believe that Ralph is the most able leader. This because Ralph is a rational thinker, as he looks at the bigger picture and sees what needs to be done. Also, Ralph is trying to establish order by forming rules and enforcing them. Lastly, out of Simon, Piggy and Jack, Ralph is the best overall leader as he is optimistic. He also looks to the brighter side, thinking that they will eventually be rescued and that they will live in harmony until then.
and what will not only benefit the leader but a quality that will also benefit the leader’s followers who look up to them. Portraying the best leadership in the novel Lord of the Flies, would be Ralph. The greatest leader, that I’ve had an honor to spend my whole life with, would be my father. What makes a leader so apparent? What qualities made the boys in Lord of the Flies follow Ralph versus Jack?
Jack and Ralph are two of the main leaders in the book Lord of the flies. The most effective and consistent leader in the book is Ralph. He is always trying to find ways to make thing better and Jack on the other hand he is trying to do the same thing as Ralph is but Ralph is just doing it better. This kind of leadership is kind of like the two president’s into today’s election they both are trying to make the world better in their ways. Ralph is also very upfront with what he is saying for instance he say in the book “the thing is fear can’t you more than a dream” that is pretty up front with saying it doesn’t hurt you to dream and Jack is saying “I am going to make rules and who ever breaks them shall be punished” that isn’t what a good leader
When Ralph says there should be a chief to take control, its shows that Ralph realizes that there’s needs to be a leader. As soon as the boys vote for Ralph over the other boy Jack, Ralph already starts taking over as he assigns people to certain groups, “Jack’s in charge of the choir” (Golding 22). Being a leader consisted
Former First Lady, Rosalynn carter once said “A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don't necessarily want to go, but ought to be.” A great leader has 5 main Qualities Charismatic, Responsible, Authoritative, Intelligent, Strategic. In the novel Lord of the Flies there are two characters one's name is jack and one is Ralph. Ralph went by Rosalynn carter's Quote.
He can see that Jack wants power and isn’t happy that Ralph is in charge. Ralph let’s Jack be the leader of the choir. Ralph said, “Jack’s in charge of the choir. They can be- what do you want them to be? Hunters.
Littluns’ minds are impressionable, and can change when influenced by older more ‘mature minds’ because of their desire for a leader and confirmation in what they are doing as right and wrong. Golding shows this by showing the innocence in the kids with their crying, and longing for an adult figure in the beginning of the book, but by the end of the book he has corrupted the littluns, into thinking that death and killing is fun and socially acceptable. By doing so, they start to lose their fight to get off the island. The little ones care more about having fun, than acquiring food or being safe, so that they can ignore all of the hardships they are going through. So, when faced with the problem of choosing a leader between Ralph - the
Irony can be shown in many titles in today’s books; irony can display humor and weakness. From the titles of the books needed to read this summer, Wit by Margaret Edson and Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro displayed the most irony in the title of them. In Wit, the protagonist thinks they are thinking and responding too quickly. However, Vivian has time to think of their past mistakes which really are not as paramount to their success. Vivian thinks she has wit, when really she is heartfelt and descriptive in her decisions.
In William golding’s Lord of the Flies, The character of Ralph is elected the leader of a group of boys that were traveling on a plane when it was shot down leaving them stranded on a island with no adult supervision. Ralph, a charismatic and athletic boy, was elected the leader by the boys stuck on the island, much to the disappointment of Jack. Jack, who was the top dog of the choir boys, wants to be leader but keeps it quiet. Ralph, who wants to put a little civilisation on the island so they all can survive to be rescued, is very stressed that most of the boys want to play and not help with their own survival. Now Ralph is really not ready for the leader position and Jack knows it, so little by little jack uses this to take over leadership.
Lord of the Flies begins and ends with the protagonist Ralph with most of the story seen from his perspective. Ralph represents the characteristics of good throughout the novel. He is charismatic, good-looking and sensible. Although the stranded boys are all young, Ralph is seen as more mature and displays leadership qualities such as strength of character, decisiveness and bravery. Ralph quickly displays his natural leadership abilities from the start by blowing a conch shell to summon the other survivors who are spread throughout the island.
