William Golding's book Lord of the Flies, shows how evil humans are at heart. The book is about a group of British boys who crash on an island and slowly turn savage. Jack and Ralph are split into two groups and after all the conflict ends up with people dead. William Golding in his book Lord of the flies tells us that people are more evil than good. This is shown in the killing of Simon, the killing of Piggy, and the killing of the sow.
Simon is the only boy who doesn't appear to be afraid of the forest. It might be because he knows that he's safer alone than with the other boys. This quote represents fear, because it shows Simon doesn’t mind being alone in the forest, while the rest other boys are too scared to be alone. It also shows that Simon much rather prefers to be alone than with all the other boys, because of all the savagery that's been going on. Simon is different from the other boys, because he is both an independent and a very observant person.
Is it right to leave behind what a person believes in order to join a safer group? In William Golding’s classic novel Lord of the Flies the characters Sam and Eric are very civil characters who makes the decision to “go with the flow” from the moment the plane crashes to the moment the boys are rescued. Throughout the book, these twins struggle to decide which of the two leaders to follow. In the end it seems that Samneric leave Ralph’s civil tribe and join Jack’s savage tribe. However, Samneric never change their beliefs.
In all ways Simon would have been the best leader not only because he cares about everyone, but he also puts everyone before himself. He even cares about the littluns. Proof of this is in the middle of page 56 Simon is described as “Then, amid the roar of bees in the afternoon sunlight, Simon found for the fruit they could not reach... passed them back down to the endless, outstretched hands. " I chose this quote because it shows how Simon goes out of his way to help out the littluns when no one else would and this makes the littluns look up to Simon and follow his role.

Two British boys get stranded on an island and end up trying to survive with different and horrifying situations with themselves or among others. A storm builds over the island, Simon finds the paratrooper’s body and realizes it’s true identity. He heads to Jack’s camp to give everyone the news about the beastie, meanwhile, Ralph and Piggy realize that the the biguns were loyal to Ralph so out of curiosity and hunger, they end up going to Jack’s camp. Jack, then, orders a dance in response to the downpour; Simon crawls out of the forest and tries to tell them about the beastie’s true identity but the boys end up having a crave of killing and kill Simon.
Jack tries to discredit him by calling a meeting about the beast and turning the tables to say some negative things about Ralph which means that Jack is ignoring the rules of society and going rogue, evil to say in his voice. “Yes. The beast is a hunter. Only-shut up! The next thing is that we couldn’t kill it.
A group of boys from Britain are being flown on a plane out of their country because a raging war has erupted and it was no longer safe. As they are flying the plane is shot down in the midst of the war and the boys go crashing down onto a deserted tropical island. The boys regather themselves and realized the situation that they were in. The boys quickly pick a leader and it is a character named ralph, as the story goes on there are many challenges the little group of boys face. Golding demonstrates the theme that we need civilization to tame the savage within us all in a variety of ways throughout the novel.

Piggy and Ralph do not have an issue with that and that is how his bond starts with Ralph and Piggy. “But Simon went!” (Golding, 171) Fears Ralph after Simon decides to prove there is no beast because fear has taken over the boys.
“Let him be the chief, the one with the trumpet thing”. The kids on the island had to choose a chief, someone who would help them if needed, someone who is brave and caring. Their options were either Jack or Ralph. To begin with, Jack was a strict leader; he would force the kids to wear their uniforms and listen to him. Granted, he thought that he was always right and demanded the kids to obey him and respect him.

Simon was the only boy to help Ralph in making the shelters and he “found [the littles] the fruit they could not reach” (Golding 56). Through his actions, Simon shows genuine concern for the boys’ well-being, regardless of the obstacles they encounter on the island. Simon pays close attention to the littles, who are scared and almost abandoned on the island. Similarly, Simon shows his compassion through the help that he is willing to offer to anyone. When “Jack struck his fist through Piggy’s stomach” (71), Simon “found [Piggy’s glasses] for him”(71).
He helped others with necessary things, such as building the huts and taking care of the Littluns (page 50). Also, he was very intelligent to create his own kind of light and knowing a lots of knowledge. As the novel goes on Simon is gradually alienated. Simon becomes brave in the face of danger. He is the only person to confront the beastie and find out the truth that the beastie is Littluns
