Vimy Ridge was considered Canada’s greatest victories. This is the time when the country came out from Britain’s shadow and was capable of doing great things as their own country. Canadian soldiers earned respect and a reputation of effectiveness and a tough army. On April 9th 1917 the Canadian army were ordered to attack Vimy Ridge which was located in Northern France in the pas-de-Calais region. Near the border of Belgium, is a village called Vimy which was equipped with Barbed wires and machine guns.
Starting in 1954 African Americans decided once and for all that now was a sweet time for a revolution. Since the moment they were forced to come to this country they have been treated worse than terrible. They have had to fight and claw for every right they have, and between 1954 and 1965 was an important war. In these years the civil rights movement changed the lives of African Americans for the better, it got the buses and schools desegregated, and gave African Americans the right to vote. In these years separate was no longer considered equal.
The Civil Rights Movement inspired racial harmony between blacks and whites in America. The Movement was led by many leaders and activists. Some of the biggest leaders/activists were Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. They both had different philosophies on how to earn freedom and civil rights. The big question is whose philosophy was better in the 1960s. Martin Luther King believed that blacks and whites should join together as one country, but the only way to achieve that was through nonviolence.
The NAACP became the most powerful Civil Rights organization in U.S and wanted to challenge segregation in the courts. Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court ruled that segregation in schools was unconstitutional and overturned “separate but equal.” Civil Rights Movement ended legal segregation, protected Civil Rights, increased pride and racial identity and African Americans were able to vote, go to college. In A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, the characters Mr Lindner and Mrs. Johnson symbolize the foreshadow of the Younger’s destruction. Mr. Lindner tries to prevent the Younger family from living in Clybourne Park, an all white neighborhood. He symbolizes white supremacy and the end of hope for the Younger family because if the Youngers comply to his demands, their dreams will not come true and shows that whites are superior to blacks. After Walter calls Mr. Linder about the house in Clybourne Park, Beneatha says “All the talk about dreams and sunlight that goes on in this house. It’s all dead now” (143).
In Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin In The Sun, One theme is that a mother will do anything to teach her children money isn’t everything, to never give up on their dreams, and to make her family happy. For Mama’s whole life, she has been trying to teach her family that money isn’t everything, but it seems that ever since they knew that they were getting an insurance check that seems to be all they talk about. Right, when Walter woke up he started to ask about the insurance check and when it was coming, so when Mama wakes up she says "Somebody would have thought my children done starved to death the way they talk about money here late...”(330). This quote is important because it shows that the family is talking about money like they are starving and don't have food, but in reality they are so worried about what mama is going to do with the money because they all want it used a different way to benefit themselves or their dream, but some of the family disagree and want to leave it to Mama to choose what happens to it because it's her money and it's not right for them to ask for it or use it how they want to.
With the want of these goals comes about change, an impact, and a response, and the Civil Rights Movement impacted America by gaining the civil rights for African Americans, starting the integration of schools, and also bringing

The Civil Rights Movement has taken America a long way from "separate but equal" to the integration of public places to now where discrimination is mostly gone. After people got past the fact that something had to change the movement took off. " Plessy vs. Ferguson" influenced America because it showed nothing can ever be separate but equal (Brown 27). It explained the fact that if you separate two races how will they ever grow or learn new ideas (Ober, Lauren). Then once the races were integrated it hit America hard.
The African American Civil Rights movement existed at large between the early fifties and the late sixties in a society that was constantly on the verge of social destruction. The black rights movement existed politically, socially, and economically everywhere in the United States. As time progressed the movement developed and saw many changes along with schisms separating activists and how they approached getting their rights. In the early fifties there was a large non-violent integration based movement spearheaded by figures such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks. However, as the time progressed, the movement started seeing a more aggressive leadership with figures such as Malcolm X, but eventually it turned into an extremist movement
Lorraine V. Hansberry Author Lorraine Hansberry, who is considered one of the Great American authors, wrote during the Modernist period. She wrote “A Raisin in the Sun” in 1959. In this work, we can see evidence of the characteristics, themes and style identified with the Modernist movement which was extant in American letters between 1850’s and after WWII. Lorraine Hansberry wrote during this time period of American literature, and such, remains one of the most identifiable and iconic writers of her time. Lorraine Hansberry was born on May 19, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois.
The Civil Rights Movement was a big part of blacks getting treated equally and having the same rights as everyone else. But even after slavery being abolished racism against blacks was still a thing and will forever be a thing. Civil rights was based on a struggle for social justice that took place mainly during the 1950s and 1960s for Black Americans to gain equal rights under the law in the United States. The reason the Civil Rights Movement started was because The Brown vs The board of education which overturned desegregated schools across the nation. Schools, especially in the South, were slow to comply, and attempts to register blacks often broke into violence.
The Civil Rights have changed the world that we live in many many ways. There were troubles and even jail time for blacks to fight their equality. People did and continued to do whatever it took to get their message across. There we tons of failures and tons of successes, and some took the wrong furn for a reason. The world has changed a lot with racism and discrimination but there is still more to change.
African Americans were not welcome in schools with white people for a very long time, until some people started battling for a change. The civil rights movement was a very important time in history for african americans. Many people died suffered but held on to hope to be able to have equality for everyone. During this time in history, new laws were created.
The Civil Right movement has helped to shape the rights and equity of many people. The Civil Rights movement has helped to change the dynamics of American History. This movement has helped to change things in a political, economic, and historical prospective. Without the civil rights movement, we could not have our first black president or ladies running for presidencies. When people think Civil Rights they may date it back to the time 1954 when the Supreme Court’s decisions in Brown v. Board of Education which outlawed segregation education.
