Throughout Shakespeare's play, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, both Romeo and Juliet are driven with passion instead of reason through love at first sight. Both characters did not consider others’ opinions. Juliet’s parents continued to tell Juliet to marry Paris, although Juliet was madly in love with Romeo and did not listen to what her parents’ opinions were. Both characters quickly reacted when they saw one laying in the tomb dead. Romeo did not stop to find out what happened to Juliet before killing himself then and there. Many events throughout Shakespeare's play represent the tragic flaws of Romeo and Juliet. Romeo immediately hunts down Tybalt, assuming he killed Mercutio on purpose, before finding out the truth. After successfully finding Tybalt, Romeo harshfully said, “Alive in triumph, and Mercutio slain? Away to heaven respective lenity, and fire-eyed fury be my conduct now! Now, Tybalt, take the “villain” back again… either thou or I, or both, must go with him.” (Shakespeare, 570). Romeo and Tybalt begin to fight over Tybalt accidently killing Mercutio. Hours after the two star-crossed lovers met, Juliet whispered to Romeo as he was vacating his true love's balcony, “... thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow …”(Shakespeare, 545). Less than twenty-four hours later, Romeo and Juliet met at Friar Lawrence’s cell to officalize their love for one another. Romeo and Juliet were infatuated the first time they made eye contact. They go off to get married, lacking knowledge for the other. This shows that both Romeo and Juliet let love over power the way they think. There could have been a chance both Romeo and/or Juliet would not have liked the other or that they were completely different if they would have stopped and got to know each
