Should We Lower the Drinking Age in America For many teens in America, the appearance of drinking lies as much in the peer pressure of the other people, then being alone. In some countries where alcohol is legal for teens to drink, that type of craziness does not exist. A reason why the drinking age should be lowered, is a conversation a friend who had returned from spring break last year. This person, and her friends drank and got drunk on weekends. When they returned, I asked my friend if she had gotten "Wasted" every night during their trip. She replied that, she had not, because it was not such a big deal when you can get alcohol so easily. This resulted, them drinking more responsibly opposed to reckless kids.

Some cultures, drinking is a social activity. The continent Europe, kids drink in a social environment by the early age as 10. France, many families drink wine for dinner. In England, it is legal for a teen to have an alcoholic beverage in a public restaurant with a parent at the age of 16. In America, we consider people who have alcohol every night to be alcoholics? It seems to me that people from the United States have created a problem with drinking, which forces us to look different than other places. The difference lies in the responsibility we learned. Europeans teach their children how to drink the right way, where American children grow up being told that alcohol kills you. I can say that children do something that you tell them not to do it. Kids are told for their whole life about the harmful effects of alcohol, yet often see adults drink in front of them. What happens is that when these children grow into teenagers, they start trying new things they were told not to do as a child. These teens do not know how much they can handle, or which drinks mix. That is why some people’s first time with alcohol send them to the emergency
