How does Macbeth change throughout the play?
Shakespeare presents Macbeth as a tragic hero. Macbeth is presented at the start of the play as being kind however throughout the play he is manipulated into being selfish and doing whatever it takes to get to the top. At the start of the play Shakespeare presents Macbeth as being a “brave warrior” he is shown to the audience as being a courageous and strong character furthermore showing the characteristics of a hero which the audience would have recognised at the time. The hero would have also been very vulnerable and as we know he was the next victim of the three witches. Macbeth’s character changes a great deal over the course of the play.
