When you look throughout American history there are tons of major events that have arrived just as quickly as they have left. In most of the major events in American history has left a scar on America. However, there are events that had brought not only Americans but the rest of the world together with pride and accomplishment. All over American in late sixties and early seventies people were aware that a war was going on and that we were close to achieving landing on the moon. There were cries to end the war and there were cheers for the possibility of landing on the moon. As previously mentioned, the years between 1965 through 1975 had a massive impact on America. America was starting to see that the war was not improving, and the soldiers were not winning. There was also pressure on being able to get the first man to the moon by the end of the decade. The Space race was important to the not only America but to it people as well. With the Vietnam War going on the American people needed something to hold on to keep them going and this was the space race. It wasn’t long ago that Americans were fighting in World War II and that had taken a huge toll on not only the economy and aspects of life, but the people’s spirit as well. The Vietnam War started in 1955 through 1975 and had over fifty-eight thousand American military casualties. The decade of 1965 through 1975 was a very interesting decade to be alive for.
