Thinking may be the process of using one’s mind to consider and understand something, but making thinking visible takes what thinking is an applies it to teaching and learning. Finding different ways to apply what students are thinking in class and using certain activities to teach is the way making thinking visible is used in daily life. There are a variety of ways to make thinking visible, but it depends what type of learning the students comprehend the best. All students are different and there is no one way that all students can learn the best. This is why students have to decide what type of learner they are and apply it to what they are learning in class. There are visual, mental, and verbal ways that thinking may be made visible, but all are useful in some way. Being able to make thinking visible is one of the best ways to help the students in the classroom succeed in what they are learning. It is much harder for students to just listen to a teacher speak and take in the information rather than being shown what they are learning and actually applying it and being able to understand what is being taught. I feel that a lot of the routines mentioned in this book can become useful in different ways of studying. Now knowing that all these routines help students understand and comprehend information more efficiently I may use some of these ideas to help me break down parts of chapter that I might not understand to fullest of my ability.
