What have you eaten today? Most likely it was a burger, fries, some processed treat, or soda. This is what we call the American diet. This diet is simply not healthy. Which leads to malnutrition. In America, the problem of malnutrition is caused by majority of Americans practicing the American diet, and society reacts to this problem by coming up with more nutritious diets, such as vegan, vegetarian, or pescatarian, which creates awareness and leads to solutions such as better overall health.

They are things such as, obesity, lack of vitamins in the foods people eat, and the creation and consumption of GMO foods. Obesity is the state or condition of being very fat or overweight. When some people consume foods that lack vitamins but are tasteful, they tend to constantly eat those foods or similar types of foods. This leads to obesity. Since there are such things as food deserts and areas who can’t grow or simply don’t have certain foods, there are GMO foods. This type of food is genetically modified to either make more of it or to simply edit the food and make it less natural. The less natural something becomes the less nutrients it contains to give the body when it consumes the food. A lack of vitamins can cause illnesses, changes to appearance, and more negative outcomes to the body. The most popular among the three over the past few years has been the plant based diet. A plant based diet is one that contains no animal products whatsoever and strictly consuming plants. Business World, in the article, “7 Athletes Who Swear By Plant Forward Diets.” (2022), explains that athletes are choosing a healthy plant forward diet in order to improve their performance. Athletes are figures that tend to use the most energy and depend a lot on their diet, so when the average American sees an athlete operating on a plant diet it will encourage them to possibly subscribe to the diet as
