If a major part of high school spirit is supporting the various school teams, why is the robotics team ignored? Is it because it is not a sport? Is the team just not worth the investment? Maybe it is because it is not known well enough. The school needs to consider supporting the Mandeville High School Robotics Team because it has future payoffs for students and the school, embodies the principles of Mandeville High School, and is difficult to independently fund. The robotics team has some rather appealing future payoffs. In the long run the robotics team benefits the school board and the school itself by being the embodiment of STEM. In today’s technology reliant society, a school with a good footing in science, technology, engineering, and math is a potential selling point for those who consider attending that school. The robotics team encourages the pursuit of careers in not just engineering, but the arts as well.
