In this, the group of scientists contend that while the war must end as soon as possible, concluding it with the dropping of the atomic bomb is not the means to go about the situation. They argue that "the development of atomic power will provide the nations with new means of destruction" (5). Simply dropping the bomb sounds easy, however having the weapon itself at the nation's disposal represents the first step in a game of losses. There is no good that can come about using a lethal weapon, even if it is being used to end a war. There are much simpler ways to end the conflict than dropping the atomic bomb.

On August 6, 1945, during World War II , an American B-29 bomber dropped the world’s first ever atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The explosion wiped out 90 percent of the city and immediately killed 80,000 civilians; thousands of more would later die due to radiation poisoning. A few days later, a second B-29 dropped another atomic bomb on Nagasaki, killing an estimated 40,000 civilians. The amount of casualties totaled over 150,000 civilians.
May 1945, Germany has surrender and now the war has been taken to the Pacific Ocean. Japan won’t surrender and they are taking as much lifes as possible of Allied soldiers with them. After critical casualties for the United States, the Manhattan Project will now come in handy to end this war faster. We all wanted the war to be the quickest the possible with the least American casualties, so instead of choosing to make this a time of peace or take of a new era, United States should just choose to push ahead to final victory and end this war. There is three options from where to choose from, all of them are excellent but only one of them really fulfills our demands.

After six years of war, those involved were ready for it to be over. By the end of 1944 the Axis had collapsed. Instead of going into war again Truman used the atomic bomb to end it, without question. This action helped to save many Americans. The use of the atomic bomb was the most controversial decision in America’s history and for many good reasons. America was the first country to use an atom bomb and is the only country to use one in wartime so far. Japan should not have been bombed in a nonmilitary area, but Nagasaki was a large shipping port, and Hiroshima was protected because it was a spot for housing soldiers and other military equipment. Though the cities were not populated by only civilians, they were not strictly military bases. There is no just or unjust opinion a person can have about this because an alternate plan would cause a similar outcome that would have been just as brutal, but there is no lesser of the two evils.
