Many people think that there are only seven founding fathers of the United States of America, but in reality, there are many more. America was founded by people we call the founding fathers, the people who shaped America into what it is today. Marquis de Lafayette was an obvious hero of our country in numerous ways. For example these three points; He fought with us with Britain, and won awards for his bravery; helped America and France and somehow juggled responsibilities of both countries; and was a big part of the politics and presidential part of the U.S. Lafayette fought in many wars with the United States of America even though he was French. And while the other founding fathers are crucial, America wouldn’t have gotten anywhere without his help. He helped with anything he could, no matter what the task was, big or small. Along with Thomas Jefferson, he drafted and wrote the Declaration of Independence. Presidents seemed to admire him as well. President James Monroe invited him to America as a guest, and while there, he toured all twenty-four states in the union at the time. Benjamin Franklin strongly encouraged congress to hire Lafayette, and when he met George Washington, “The two men bonded almost immediately” according to Leepson. Lafayette even has a community named after him in Pennsylvania called Lafayette Hill; a park named after him named lafayette square; and many cities named after him, recognizing his strength, bravery, and devotion to everything he did, including helping make America. Congress appointed him its advisor to the three American envoys: Ben Franklin in Paris,France;John Jay in Madrid, Spain; and John Adams in Hague, Netherlands. He also helped prepare for a French and Spanish expedition against the British West Indies and worked on trade agreement between France and the United States of America.
