In general, this article mainly adopts the ideology of spirituality such as God, the Bible, and the power of Satan. Kostenberger indicates very straightforward in her article that marriage is only between male and female. The author believes that it is the order of nature and it is how human should follow. Marriage is a sacred event between two persons under the witness of God. The author also mentions the five basic principles of marriage based on God’s plan. The two articles seem to be totally opposite, but there is one thing that they both agree which is the love and the responsibility of husbands to their wives. One of the lessons from God is that husbands should truly devote to their wives. Supporting this idea, Solnit lists several cases where women are abused by their male partner. Both articles imply the opposition to domestic violence. Each author has their own point of view. Solnit believes that the advantages of marriage equality far outweigh the drawbacks. Cultural diversity is also included in marriage equality as people support for the interracial marriage. I do not have the sufficient knowledge about Islam countries where they practice polygamous marriage. I am not certain that do they practice it as a culture or as other reasons. As other cultural related issues we have discussed, the Female genital mutilation is one example proving that what we presume sometimes conflicts with the insiders’ belief. People from parts of the world have various practices. We may consider those dishonest or immoral, but its people actually highly value their culture. I may assume that it is unfair for women in a polygamous marriage, but what it the women in those countries do not feel that way. If this practice has existed for centuries, the citizens must be comfortable with it and they can continue what they believe. However, it has never been the case in the U.S. where marriage is polygamous. So I do not think it is appropriate to promote polygamy in the U.S. Moreover, the U.S. law has stated that marriage is a formal union between two people. Polygamy is not only going against the U.S. social standard, it
