Marth is trying to get a scholarship for college and go to college and be the first one in the family. To begin, Martha is a determined character because she wants to always have straight As. I can't imagine how hard it is to keep straight As for 8 years. One mess up one mistake and it is all over. One bad teacher, one super hard test, and she are done. The scholarship jacket is a great short story about a Texas girl who lives with her grandparents. She tries to get good grades to be eligible for the scholarship jacket.
