Introduction –
The purpose of doing maximal muscle power and endurance tests is to assess how much power and muscular endurance can be produced. The data will help trainers set reasonable goals and provide clients with appropriate training programs. The tests done in this lab also gave an insight to possible reasons for differences between males and females.
To test muscle endurance, the partial curl-ups, push-ups, and time tuck jump tests are used. These tested the ability of abdominal, upper, and lower muscle groups to perform repeated contractions for an extended period of time. What we use to test maximal muscle power were the vertical jump and standing long jump test. These tested the ability of lower body strength to produce force quickly. …show more content…

The vertical and standing long jump uses the phosphagenic system evaluating the ability of lower body muscles to exert high force while contracting at high speed resulting in maximal exertion. The curl-ups, push-ups, and time tuck jump tests uses a combination of the phosphagenic and anaerobic glycolysis energy systems evaluating against submaximal resistance.
Another possible difference is between the male and female quantitative outcomes. Considering that all subjects are in their early 20s and have no signs of obesity, it should be seen that males having higher values than females due to the generalization that males have larger muscle
