The book was very informative of life when racism was more apparent. I think that books like this show that standing up to racism is an option. It shows that even children of a younger age were involved in the situation.
It shows how race and other social factors can have a huge impact on your life. Using a real life example was more beneficial than reading from textbooks. It shows readers that these things do happen and also gives them a chance to visualize it. The only issue I had with his writing and telling of the story was when Hobbs refers to himself as an “honorary black man” (page 130). I found it a bit problematic because he has privilege that black people are not afforded.
When I first started reading it, I thought that it was going to be really boring because it was about history. But as I got further along in the book, I realized that it was not just a typical history book. Michael Shaara had written the book in a way so that it was easy for us to experience the American Civil War with the soldiers on the field. The different sections of the book were written so that it was from each individual’s point of view, which I found quite interesting. Michael Shaara approached this book in a different manner and I think it really did the book some justice.
Anyways the book exposes the true why most of historic events happened. The book illustrates show white men used intimidation to sexual victimize black women, instilled fear into black women’s hearts to not speak of the injustice done to them and enforced a hierarchy of white
The book shows readers the way of African-Americans fighting for their liberty; in such a way, Kluger encourages people to fight for their civil
I think that one of the main points was that “the Age of Colorblindness”. This current time period is supposed to be post racial and the new generations much more accepting. The book proves that racism is not over, and it is just now carried out in a new way. Black men are the group that are most affected by the prison system and are more likely to be stopped by the police than any other group of
I was also connected to the text more listening to her and how she tries to match her family experience to the family in the book. I noticed that she was very passionate about Japanese Internment camps, this made me want to strive to be passionate about the book as much as
The book truly keeps you hardwired in, making you focus on what is going to happen next. Moreover, the writer of the book displays a wonderful mapping to further explain where and how things happen. He does this by giving both sides of the story from the North and the South. The writer also broke down the story telling into four days.
Ultimately, the central purpose of an author’s novel is to engross the reader by writing in a genre and movement that is appropriate to the topic of the novel. Kurt Dinan engages
We all know that George Washington was the first president of the United States. He got elected president in 1789 by 69 members of Congress. As the former leader of the Continental Army and a chairman of the Continental Congress George Washington had the right credentials to be president. His presidency ended in 1797 and he died in 1799. The truth is George Washington was not the first president.
When he is introduced to books about slavery he realizes all the cruelty and how filtered some other books about slavery are; Book after book gave him information about his culture that he did not take as seriously until after reading.
Furthermore, I would highly recommend this book to any reader that wants to learn more about the Civil Rights Movement. I also who recommend any teacher who will or has taught about this historic time period to read this book and use it as a teaching tool in their classroom. I believe this book has more of a personal level on this topic than any other film or book that relates to this time period that I have used or seen
This book is very relevant to everyday life because all these characters that took a stand where everyday people. So you, the reader, have chances in your life to stand up for your morals. To conclude, you the reader, could make the world a better place. Will you stand up for what you believe in to make the world a better
The plot on how to build a house by dana reinhardt is interesting to me because it had a way of making things more intriguing.the way it was written made you want go to the next page maybe not that much in the beginning but after a while you wanted to know who this one person was and what was this person like. I believe that a book can be considered good if it is a great story with average writing. A great story with many struggles and ultimate success can be told even when the writing is average. Some storylines are not compelling, but they are so well written that people will recommend them. It would make you question what does divorced parents feel like.
Chapter six was so powerful to me because it hits close to home. This chapter talks more about the Black Lives Matter Movement, how it developed, how it was influential, and how it is more than just a hashtag. I enjoy Taylor’s discussion into the BLM Movement because I can relate to it on a personal level. I got to live and experience this movement. Many individuals from my generation, Millennials, helped push this movement and make history.
