In today’s society, the phrase “gender role” was different now than years ago. Today’s society, have a new meaning when it comes to the phrase “gender role”. However, years ago, the phrase had a special meaning to it. Gender role was a phrase that defines you, as a man and woman, and what type of job you pertain in the household.
In the 17th century, the phrase “gender role”, hold a different meaning than now. In the 17th century, it was the man's responsibility to be the breadwinner of the household. The men were the voice of the family. It was the men job to work and support his family. It was the women job to stay at home and take care of the family. At the time, the only role for women was to get married, have children and take care of the household duties. It wasn’t until the late 1900’s when gender role started to change. …show more content…

Women started working in the factories, making their own money. In this time, men didn’t like the fact that women weren’t home taking care of the children or doing the household duties. In my opinion, I think the men weren't mad because the women were working. I feel like they were mad because women weren't depending on them for money anymore.
In today’s society, the phrase “gender role” is different. People in this generation is really turning always from the phrase “gender role”. In this generation, there are more women being the breadwinner than men in the household. In today’s world, you are seeing more women taking more leadership role than men. Also, there are more men that stay home and take care of the family and the household duties. In this generation of young adults, there are waiting later to get married, to pursue their career goal. Today’s, many women are choosing their career and education over a marriage or having a
