Oftentimes, there are many songs written by artists that are covered by different artists. When a song is written by a cover artist, it simply means that the recorded song is sung by another artist rather than the original artist. In some cases, songs that are sung by cover artists are preferred over the original artist. One of my preferred cover artist songs is written by Brad Paisley but covered by another artist. The song “I’m Gonna Miss Her” was written by Brad Paisley and was covered by Post Malone in 2021. Brad Paisley is a country music songwriter, singer, and guitarist. His style has a wide variety which ranges from cowboy boots, leather jackets, and cowboy hats. His writings contain hip-hop, pop, R&B, and rock songs, which are all combined at times. Post Malone has created many songs that talk about mental health and drug abuse. Along with bringing awareness about mental health and drug abuse, Post Malone uses his platform to donate to and support charitable foundations as well. The first reason being this song was recorded live with a band. In this case, Post Malone was in a building with Dwight Yoakam’s Band. The lively recorded performance added a touch to the song because there was not any autotune added to Post Malone’s version. Another reason I believe Post Malone’s cover of the song “I’m Gonna Miss Her” is superior is because of his voice. When listening to music, the artist's voice sticks out the most. In this case, I admire how raspy Post Malone’s voice sounds in this particular song. As stated earlier in the essay, Post Malone’s raspy voice mixed with a little country made this chosen song laid back and calming to the
