Today schools have a significant influence as a key factor for crime prevention for youth. School-based programs are available to sustain daily access to students as they are developing throughout the years while being in school. These programs are established to help to help the youth develop into productive and determined individuals and help them avoid engaging in any delinquent crimes. The great benefit about these programs is that not only there are people willing to help these youths, but the community itself support school’ efforts to interact with youths to put them on the right path (Gottfredson). Basically, these mentoring programs are proving their way of helping these youth and because they have had such significant influence were instead they have volunteers to help out and help these at risk children and adolescents. In mentoring-based programs, these children and adolescents make a commitment and a relationship with the adult volunteers who are volunteering to commit their time and energy to not only developed relationships with the youths but also help guide them through different aspects of their life. These programs have been established to take part in courts, churches, colleges, communities, and a schools, which focus on getting the youth to take part in any type of activities or interested in establishing a successful career.
