Blackfish, a documentary by Gabriela Cowperthwaite, a historically observed impact of the captivity of killer whales. This Documentary focuses on the orca Tilikum, who was captured off the coast of Iceland. On February 21, 1991, Sealand trainer Keltie Byrne fell into the pool with Tilikum. She was pulled to the bottom by Tilikum, tossed around, and drowned. It took Sealand employees two hours to recover her.
For my extra credit book report, I chose to read “Your Inner Fish” by Neil Shubin. Neil Shubin is a highly regarded paleontologist, and is extremely qualified to have written this book. Shubin studied at Harvard university and earned his Ph.D. in organismic and evolutionary biology in 1987. He also studied at Columbia University, as well as Berkeley. He was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2011.
Your Inner Fish essay In Neil Shubin’s Your Inner Fish, he takes his readers on a journey throughout time, teaching how marine animals inevitably ended up on land. Shubin starts his book by describing how himself and other paleontologists found a missing piece, that showed how animals transitioned from water to land. With this discovery it allowed paleontologists like Shubin, to see transitions that could possibly link certain species of fish to humans. A major change between fish and humans is the use of limbs and its ability to use its limbs to take itself out of the water and away from the dangers within.

This quote was a prevailing theme in the movie “Milagro Beanfield War”, which takes place in a small town, where everyone’s professions are important in helping keep the town dynamic and flowing. At the beginning of this film we are introduced to the “grandfather” of the town, Amarante, and his friend and advice giver, the old spirit of the Milagro town .We are also introduced to a lot of other characters in the story- Joe, his wife, Rudy, and the sheriff- that have dynamic roles in the plot. The use of resources is a prevalent theme in the story. For the town, because resources are so limited, it quickly becomes an important focal point.
OPWR: Who Is The Legend In “Big Fish” I think that in this story, Big Fish, Edward the dad is the Legend. Most of the movie shows his life and actions he did and took, he did many brave actions throughout the movie.

However, their operation was failed and they were caught by mobster Sal and his young boss, Lou “Little Tuna.” They were forced to make a decision of sacrificing one person’s life to save the rest of them. When Lou takes pity on the gang, Big Tuna shown up and made them to speed up the decision. Unbelievably, Sal was killed, although he is Big Tuna’s nephew because of his greed of money.
In Bless me, Ultima, Antonio is on the journey to discover what he believes and who he is supposed to be as a man. His experiences throughout the book make him question his beliefs and took away his innocence. The Golden Carp plays a considerable role in shaping Antonio's life both religiously and physically. Antonio is already confused about his identity, what he is supposed to be, a priest or a farmer, world of Ultima's magic versus religion, and the Golden Carp is a sign of yet one more root for his uncertainties and questions about Christianity. “Finding Fish” by Antwone Quenton Fisher was published in 2001, and is a novel chronicling Antwone Fisher’s childhood to early adulthood years. He faced many trials and tribulations growing up motherless and fatherless causing him to be sucked into the system which led him to face psychological development issues down the road. Blackfish (2013) is an American documentary film directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite and produced by Manuel V. Oteyza. The documentary primarily concerns the controversy of captured Killer Whales at the theme park Sea World, primarily that of Tilikum, an Orca responsible for the deaths of 2010 SeaWorld trainer Dawn Brancheau and two other individuals. The documentary begins with this incident but goes as far back to the 1970 's show the audience how young Orcas are captured in the wild and taken from their families and natural environments. Since its release at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival Blackfish has achieved both critical acclaim and caused controversy regarding SeaWorld 's treatment of its animals as well as retaliation from SeaWorld as to the legitimacy of the film 's claims.
The movie, “Big Fish”(2003), directed by Tim Burton, is an adequate 4-star film that provides an interesting outlook on the father-son dynamic, but includes quite a few characters whose stories do not play a role in the overall story, leading to some disappointment. “Big Fish” reveals the life of Edward Bloom(Albert Finney) through his elaborate stories. However, these elaborate stories have caused Edward’s son, Will Bloom(Billy Crudup) to think of Edward as a liar and doubt his father. When Edward suffers cancer, Will returns home with his wife Josephine(Marion Cotillard)after years of not talking in attempt to reconcile with his father. While Will flies back to his father, he revisits the old memory of the witch with the death-telling
As humans people naturally become more independent with their lives. Growing up, people move away from their parents, and any bonds that once sustained from the past slowly diminishes. However, the past does affect ones future, and some attachments are so deeply woven inside the fibers of beings that moving on seems nearly impossible. In the novel A Tale of Two Cities written by Charles Dickens, Dicken uses Doctor Alexandre Manette inconsistent character development to suggest that self realization is the only way to overcome a crisis, which express that all people should rely on themselves rather than search for others in order to achieve recovery.
