Tools that meteorologist use to predict weather A meteorologist is a scientist that forecast the weather. They gather information about the past and present weather, and make a forecast. Weather forecasting involves a combination of computer models, observations, and a knowledge of weather trends and patterns. I am going to discuss some of the different tools that meteorologist use to predict the weather. A barometer is a device that measures air pressure. It tells meteorologist whether or not the pressure is rising of falling (Wicker, 2015). If the barometer is rising that means that it is sunny and dry conditions, if a barometer is falling that means it is stormy and wet conditions. An Italian scientist Torricelli built the first barometer …show more content…

Since the sun never changes, only the movement of the Earth creates changes in light and darkness, and in the temperature. Season’s changes occur on or around the 21st of June, September, December, and March. In the Northern Hemisphere, December begins winter, March brings spring, June means summer, and then September brings fall (Jensen, 2015). In the Southern hemisphere it is the opposite. December starts summer, March is fall, June is winter, and September brings spring (Jensen, …show more content…

Animals will prepare themselves for the upcoming winter. They will store food or may even travel to warm regions. Some cultures celebrate festivals. In the fall the leaves will begin to change colors, but sometimes the leaves only change on trees. Leaves contain chlorophyll which makes the leaves green (Jensen, 2015). They also contain xanthophyll which makes the leaves look yellow and carotene is what makes the leaves turn orange (Jensen, 2015). During the spring and summer the leaves on trees are green because of photosynthesis occurs. Photosynthesis is the progress of how leaves gets food and water (Jensen, 2015). The chlorophyll gets light from the sun and water from the ground, and then it turns into food and stores it in the leaf (Jensen, 2015). When the chlorophyll leaves the leaf you can begin to see orange and yellow (Jensen, 2015). When all the stored up food is used the leaf will die and then fall off the tree (Jensen,
