Michael Jordan is known as one of the greatest basketball players in the history of the game. He played for the Chicago Bulls and led them to six NBA championships and received the Most Valuable Player award several times. He is arguably the greatest player in the history of he game. Jordan was also very successful off the court and created a shoe empire that everyone knows, “Jordan.” He was one of the first professional athletes to become a billionaire in the United States. When he joined the Bulls they were not a very good team, but Jordan helped to change that. During his career he averaged over 30 points per game. He was also known to be an excellent defender on the court, especially playing man to man defense. In the 1985-86 season, Jordan broke a bone in his foot, but still helped the Bulls make the NBA playoffs. During that year’s playoffs he had one of the greatest games in the history of the NBA when he scored 63 points against Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics. The Bulls did not win an NBA title that year, but that only caused Michael Jordan to practice harder to get ready for the next season. From that point on, the Bulls won an NBA title six out of the next ten years. On the court he was best known for his amazing dunks. He used a silhouette of him dunking a basketball as his trademark for his famous Nike basketball shoes, “Air Jordans.” Later, he and Nike became partners to create his own brand of shoes and clothing called “Jordan.” His shoes and clothing line became popular all across the world, and his star status lifted the NBA’s popularity to new heights. Michael Jordan’s last game was on June 14, 1998. It was game six of the NBA Championship against the Salt Lake City Jazz. Jordan scored 45 points and led his team to their sixth NBA title.
