The age of rebirth, known to many as the renaissance, produced many famous artists, such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Raphael Urbino, and Michelangelo. Masterful pieces of artwork have been somewhat immortalized in museums across the world and are still glorified today by many who practice and study in the field of art and even appeal to those who don’t have any idea what the time period of the Renaissance birthed. It is very hard to question the fact that Michelangelo is the most talented and awe inspiring artist that was to ever come from the Renaissance. Michelangelo quickly showed his lack of interest in his education as described by Vasari. Lodovico saw that his son had no concern for school and quickly saw that his son was more attracted in pursuing the arts and specifically, drawing. Lodovico would beat and scold his son for his drawing as it was seen as a disgrace to the family’s name and legacy. Michelangelo impressed Medici with his two commissions of Madonna of the Stairs and the Battle of the Centaurs, which beauty and artistic detail were far beyond his teenage years. He was offered a place to stay and live under the care of Lorenzo De Medici after his father was reached out to for permission of this. Lodovico was compensated and was given a job in the customs department. Michelangelo was granted a salary of five ducats a month and received a purple robe under the care of Lorenzo, to make Michelangelo happy.
