If we focus on the attributes to the artwork in the Medieval and Renaissance Florence, then we can distinguish between these two eras. To clarify, during the Medieval time period in Florence, the artwork was primarily focused on the iconic heroes and religion. The main subject of the painting was depicted as the largest figure; moreover, in comparison to the most significant figure, the other figures were painted to scale based off their ranking. Also, the backgrounds were based off religious experience instead of human experience, so symbolic icons were used quite frequently, for example, a gold leaf in the setting symbolized religious purity and devotion to the faith, so the use of gold color represented Heaven’s atmosphere. The Renaissance period started in Italy but in 300 years it spread to western and Eastern Europe. there were numerous differences between art in the Italian renaissance and the Northern Europe renaissance. While Italian artists were known for their cultural achievements, Northern artists were known more for their rapid development in the arts. Italian artists created detailed human figures that were symmetrical, balanced, and maintain a linear perspective, whereas Northern artists created landscapes and paid more attention to surface detail. Italian artists focused their work mainly around classic mythology and scenes from the bible. Northern artists also worked on religious scenes, but they also incorporated detailed domestic interiors and portraits.
During the Renaissance, art cascaded throughout Europe. This was the beginning of a new age filled with advanced ideas and inspiration. The music era started in 1400 during the Renaissance and grew, later leading to baroque times. As music expanded, people portrayed what they were hearing. Music was used during mass, in chapels, and to express composers feelings.

The Middle Ages and the Renaissance can be considered one of the two main eras that influenced the world we live in today. The Middle Ages, which lasted from the 5th to the 15th century, was a time of darkness, death, cultural diffusion,no education, art, and literature. The Renaissance, started in the 1350s, stirred a lot of new ideas to the public, and showed what the world really has to offer. Politically, before the Renaissance, people were under the impression that god chose the man in charge. They lived in a world where feudalism was established.

The Renaissance was the period of new movement following the long and dark period of history. This period witnesses the great amount changes, were invention and innovation start beginning in advance level. During the Renaissance movement, the establishment and changes on culture, political, ideas, education, and art were greatly influenced, which provided many of permanent scholars and thinkers of all time.
The Renaissance was a period in time where everything started to change after the middle ages. During this historical period humans stared evolving by becoming smarter and inventing useful recourses that have changed the world. The renaissance was a life changing period which brought more joy to the world after conquering the dark ages. The Renaissance changed man’s view on the world by using Art, Science and Literature to make humans brighter and because of the rapid information they were gaining. Art during the Renaissance grew rapidly because of Leonardo Da Vici, and Michelangelo who changed the way people painted and drew by creating strategies which made art more interesting.
The Early and Central Middle Ages were times of relative stability and deep faith in the church. But the Late Middle Ages were quite different, as Europe was hit with multiple crises at the time, including the Black Death, the Great Schism, and the Hundred Years' War. It was these events that caused Europe to undergo such a drastic change and transition from the medieval period to the Renaissance. Western Civilization changed a great deal during the late Middle Ages due to the seemingly unstoppable Black Death, lack of support by the church, and devastating effects of the Hundred Years War.
The name of this era was perfect to represent this season of music. The rebirth of music was evident as secular music became prominent, reflecting its cultural backdrop of humanism. During the Renaissance, vocal music was viewed as more important than instrumental music. Accordingly, much of the music had a smooth, imitative, polyphonic texture with four to six voice parts of nearly equal voice parts.
There are many things about the Renaissance time period that made it special. Between the swashbuckling pirates and the witchcraft, the Renaissance was an exciting era. There were also things like the Black Death and the London fire, that made this era equally as tragic as it was interesting. One thing that really defined the Renaissance time was the music. The music of the Renaissance was important in the cultural aspects of that time period.
I also felt that the Classical Period was the most important for music as it brought some really great composers that changed the way music was being heard and created. Having played band in my middle school years I learned how difficult it can be to learn how to play an instrument and learned to appreciate music at that time. However throughout the years and being busy it appears I have lost that. Through this class I have been able to reconnect to that. In the 19th century, Manifest Destiny was a theory created by John O'Sullivan, an American editor and columnist, where he believes that the destiny of American settlers was to expand to the west, while at the same time spread their traditions and their institutions. As a result, many Americans settlers expanded beyond the west coast and gained more land as it caused them to built transcontinental railroads and many other great things. In addition, the American settlers considered the United States to be the best possible way to remake the world in the image of their own country as they believe God had blessed them with the growth of American nation. After encouragement to the Western Expansion, major changes such as technology, social economics, and the roles of women had great effects toward the Americans’ way of living, where it became known as the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution sparked the way how Americans’ lives changed thanks to advance and new modern technologies that were invented.
The renaissance was a time of many different improvements and changes to the era previous to it, the medieval ages, the renaissance re-introduced many different Roman and Greek traditional aspects, so much so that renaissance literally translates into “rebirth” in French. Other changes include social such as the rise of humanism and humanist beliefs, secularism, individualism, big changes in mathematical studies, sciences and all types of learning in general, the printing press invention, as well as religious changes, and the arts were also affected and changed with techniques such as chiaro-scuro, perspective, sfumato, and further more to be explained.
