Analysis of the scenario of the school climate resulting from the previous administrator’s communication style

The current climate of William C. Golden Middle School is there is no collegiality and morale is low .The school is not a positive learning environment for both teachers and students. There is no evidence of a learning community in place for the staff. The consensus is there is little or no effective feedback and communication is minimum. Leadership rarely encourages staff to use time to collaborate and plan. Administration does not show evidence of effective leadership in conducting meetings or events.

From the top to the bottom there were problems that were occurring, with teachers not collaborating and the morale was low. There are needs for teachers to collaborate, the community to become involved, and leadership to guide the school to where it can be successful and everyone feels like they are a part of the success.
William C. Golden Middle School serves approximately 1,000 students and 121 faculty members. The school has received a “D” on Florida’s A plus Plan for the previous school year. William C. Golden received a Title I status, with 90% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. The neighborhood demographics are composed of blue-collar workers and fall into the upper low-to-lower middle socioeconomic status. The school does however, have some affluent populations within the boundaries. The student’s demographics consist of 30% Caucasian, 42% African American, 26% Hispanic, and 2% other. William C. Golden Middle School’s goal is to serve the educational needs of all of our students in a rigorous, engaging environment where all students and staff reach their highest potential. All teams will create and implement team norms and focused agendas for discussion and planning to increase effectiveness of common planning time. PLC committees will be formed by teacher interest and collaboration will be a must to design action plans for each group. Examples of PLC’s would be the writing, reading, reading involvement, and many others.
