Don’t you love being poor? Just for thinking that you could get away with getting more money? “Greed has driven the world crazy. And I think I'm lucky that I have a place over here that I can call home”, Nina Simone’s words are why I feel the United States of America should not raise their minimum wage just yet. In Australia, the minimum wage is already in a good state, but in within USA people are fighting to double their minimum wage. Today, I will show you why we should be against raising the minimum wage and telling you what will happen to businesses, jobs and the prices of everything we buy.

Raising the minimum wage will make us lose the most important thing for us humans to live, our jobs which pay for all our living expenses. It will cause businesses to lay off jobs to minimum wage workers because they are unable to afford anymore workers. This will happen from small businesses dishing out too much money to supply for the workers and they will soon run out of money and have to raise their products prices, but what if that is not enough? What if the biggest organisations of the world fall? According to a website made for debates named "Procon", it tells us if the minimum wage increases, it will hurt 60% of small businesses and potentially killing many off depending on how much it will be raised. The minimum wage in the United States has been increased many times, from 25 cents in 1938 all the way to $7.25 and in some states, even $10 but protesters want more, they are protesting for $15!
