To this day Americans face a major issue in society. The minimum wage debate between raising it or keeping it the same. This topic can’t be taken lightly due to the fact that it will affect every person at any age. If the minimum wage is raised there will be less jobs and it will be harder to help and control poverty. On the other hand lowering the minimum wage or keeping it the same will hurt the people that can’t live off that salary. People of America have to see and look at what is the biggest concern for the country and not just themselves. Many Americans have very strong opinions on this issue on both sides and it is one of the most controversial topic there is in America.
I selected this topic mostly because I am just starting to be interested in a job and money. As a teenager it is tempted to just complain and ask why is the minimum wage so low. I looked pass that is thought there had to be a good reason so I did some research. I found out that there are plenty of good reasons why it is very hard to just raise the minimum wage. If they did raise it the companies would have hard times paying for all their workers and this would cause lower employment rate which would cause more people being poor and homeless. I rather get paid a few less dollars than seeing people struggle and suffer. On the other hand it is very hard to raise a family on a salary that is very low.
