Entry 1: The main character's name is Miriam Fisher. She is a poet and a seventh grader. She has a sister named, Deborah who thinks she is very popular. Miriam is very “weird” and different but she doesn’t care. She is always called names like freak, weirdo, and dumb. Miriam is a seventh grader and Deborah is in high school. Their house is very old because is was originally built for those who worked at the factory. Do you think Miriam will try to be like her sister or try to fit in with the other kids?- Yes, I think she will for Artie, a senior at her school who comes to live with her. How will she react when people start to bully her?- I think she will brush it off, but when she thinks about what they said later on, she will break down. It deals with bullying in a form I rarely see. This form is her sister bullying her more often than not. Miriam is a very unique girl that is very confident but when someone says something about her or her face, she gets insecure. So far her actions aren’t very surprising besides when her sister says things. I would think that she would yell back at her or say something mean back . I don’t like Deborah because she is so mean to Miriam and doesn't seem to love her and care for her. Sisters are suppose to fight but not make fun of each other as much as Deborah does. At one part in the section when Deborah and Miriam sat in the bathroom together, I started to like Deborah just for a second. Deborah wanted Miriam to tell her mom and dad that she was getting bullied at school. She wanted things to change for Miriam. As for Artie, I have mixed feeling about him. He tries to get alone with Miriam, which I like, but he acts like he wants her to get away from him. It is partly Deborah’s fault because she is always telling Miriam to get out of their conversation and not to talk to
