Martin Luther King Jr. was an amazing civil rights leader for the African American community. MLK gave the oppressed African Americans a voice that they could live by. He spoke out on behalf of the mishaps that were happening in the African American community. Malcolm X on the other hand was also a great civil rights leader; he was the principal spokesman of the Nation of Islam. He organized temples and founded many newspapers. If I were alive at that time I'd likely follow Malcolm X because of his ways and the way he thinks, I like all of his ideas and his way of responding to oppression. Martin Luther King and Malcolm X’s philosophies and approach to gaining civil rights were both in the form of protesting. There were many forms of protest as MLK took on a more nonviolent civil disobedience approach. He emphasized love, peace, and integration. MLK believed in his right to peacefully protest and peacefully deliver dialogue. Malcolm X had a different approach as he was promoting self-defense against racial violence. Malcolm X wasn't all for peace as a solution to the oppression of African Americans. He preached violence. As MLK was all for the peace and non-violent protest, Malcom X was more of a militant approach. Malcom X urged self-defense against racial violence and argued for the empowerment of the African American community through economic self-sufficiency. Malcolm X shifted towards a more inclusive stance, advocating for human
