For Harper I have chosen Modelled writing as the most suited strategy. The purpose of Modelled Writing, is to help students like Harper develop speech and language skills and also to construct texts appropriately. Modelled writing includes explicit teaching about the processes involved in composing text (Training, 2007). Modelled writing is a technique used by the teachers to show writing processes through the teachers own writing. This can be conducted as a whole class, a small group or on a one to one activity (Fellowes&Oakley, 2012). With this method, students are taught about composition of the text, how they work and shown analytical presentations of accomplished writing (Fellowes&Oakley, 2012). The best educational apps provide students with essential skills in print awareness, spelling, comprehension, phonics vocabulary and writing (Rockets, 2017). For Harper I have chosen various apps. To practice vocabulary further I have found that the Montessori Crossword is excellent for expanding vocabulary, spelling, reading and writing, using a phonics enabled movable alphabet (L'Escapadou, 2017). Using a Sentence Builder app will teach Harper about grammar and descriptive writing through the process of creating sentences. After selecting from three different levels of play, students are shown a few columns of words and a picture. This is a fun activity that teaches the explicit idea of how to use a paragraph effectively and also how to understand the key components of a paragraph. The top bun represents the topic sentence, which is simply an introduction. The filling represents sentences and supporting ideas, with the bottom bun is the ending, closing sentences and a conclusion.
