Our objective was to pick the best chemical to be used in a hand warm. This chemical had to be cheap, relatively safe, and must raise the temperature by 20oC and no more. We add 6 different chemicals to water we record the inshell temperature and then add one a the 6 chemicals to the water and record the temperature change of the water. We also add cold water hot water together to find how much heat would escape the calorimeter. We found that the calorimeter absorbed 71.1J/oC. Then this information to calculate the energy that was released by all of the chemical reaction.
Use the following data to find the energy change in J of each system Specific heat of ice= 2.03 J/gC Specific heat of steam= 1.99 J/gC Specific heat of water= 4.18
Kinetic theory states that molecules are always in constant motion. Kinetic energy and molecule velocity increases as temperature increases. Reactions require collisions between reactant molecules or atoms. In chemical reactions, the reactants change into products when molecule collide with enough energy to break old bonds to make new ones. Collisions increase or become more violent between molecules at higher temperatures or decrease as the temperature is lowered.
Calculations: how did we calculate and determine the mass of magnesium oxide? we Determined the mass of MgO (magnesium oxide) by subtracting the mass of the crucible with lid on from the mass, weight of the crucible with lid, and magnesium oxide. then in order to determine the oxygen mass, we will subtract the mass of the magnesium from the mg oxide to find out the amount of magnesium in the compound, divide the mass of Magnesium ( numbers of grams in one mole of magnesium we did the same way to find the amount of oxygen, where we divided the mass weight of oxygen with the numbers of grams in one mole of oxygen. and lastly in order to determine the empirical formula of magnesium oxide we Used the molar ratio to determined it. mass of Mg= o.122
Dry ice is made from carbon dioxide gas. Carbon dioxide gas is then made into a liquid called liquid nitrogen. Liquid nitrogen is made from CO2. CO2 is made from carbon, oxygen, and oxygen. O2 stands for oxygen times 2.
Molar mass is the mass in grams in one mole of substance. The units for molar mass are in grams per mole. Molar mass is the same number as the formula mass that needs to be found except it is converted. Formula mass is the mass in atomic mass unit of one particle of
So what is dry ice? As known dry ice is made from carbon dioxide gas. So in particular, it’s actually just solid blocks of carbon dioxide turning into a gas. Now that’s something! As far as we thought, it could have been just blocks of ice blown by a flamethrower.
Dry ice is made from raw carbon dioxide gas. Dry ice is the cold dense white mist produced by solid carbon dioxide in the air, used for theatrical effects. Dry ice is called dry ice because it doesn’t melt into a liquid. Dry goes from solid to gas instead of solid to liquid. Dry ice is useful for keeping things frozen.
It was May 20, 1944, a fourteen-year old entered the concentration camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau. The teenager and the other arrivals that could walk went to the concentration camp on foot. Those who did not cooperate with the Nazis were immediately gunned down. The people who made it to the camp went two days without food. Slowly, this consumed several of the prisoners as they changed from good-willed humans to ravenous savages.
Dry ice is a frozen carbon dioxide,a normal part of our earth’s atmosphere. Dry ice is a solid but turns into a gas which the term for this would be called sublimation. Sublimation occurs when the surface particles of a solid gains enough energy that they form a gas. Using dry ice is a way to keep the temperature low when a refrigerator is not available. People also use dry ice for projects and experiments.
Temperature is subjective. This means that it is a secondary property. We place temperature to objects. Keshawna: I think I understand.
Friction is a force between objects that opposes the relative motion of the objects. In this project, you will be studying kinetic friction (also called sliding friction). When two objects are moving relative to one another, kinetic friction converts some of the kinetic energy of that motion into heat. Hypothesis: If the material used for shipping is made of rubber then, there will be an increase of friction because, the roughness of rubber allows it to stick better on the floor.
Response Sometimes, no matter how much we try to avoid the danger, we inevitably end up having to face it and to respond to it. Perhaps you saw your potential attacker or attackers and attempted to avoid them moving into a more secure location, yet they followed you there and cornered you. Perhaps you did not see them due to being distracted, and you suddenly find yourself face to face with them. This is a very frightening experience for most of us, and when we are afraid, our bodies react by dumping loads of adrenaline into our bloodstream.
Research Energy is, being able to do work. Most types of energy is either a form of kinetic energy (energy which a body has) or potential energy (The energy possessed by a body). Kinetic energy is energy an object has because of its movement. Energy can be changed from one type to another.
In thermal energy or heat energy is how fast the particles of something are moving. The more temperature you have, the more thermal energy you have which means the particles will be much faster. A hot cup of coffee has lots of thermal energy unlike a cold beverage. In chemical energy, think ability of your body to do work. The glucose in your body is said to have "chemical energy" because the glucose releases energy when chemically reacted with oxygen.
