Jay Gatsby “‘I’m Gatsby,’” he said suddenly” (Fitzgerald 48). Jay Gatsby is a businessman he lives in West Egg in huge mansion next to Nick Carraway. Gatsby was an ordinary man until he made a ton of money. In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Fitzgerald goes to say how the lives of these characters are about money and how money can’t buy someone’s love. Gatsby is in love with Daisy Buchanan, but she is married to Tom, who has lots of money. The character I’m doing is Jay Gatsby. Gatsby has lots of money and in love with Daisy; Gatsby is represented by his wealth through the entire book. Throughout the book, the author goes to tell the life of Gatsby and how his life has money, and how he throws parties to get attention from the one he has always loved, Daisy. Jay Gatsby has this big mansion, that is on this lake across from where he can see Daisy’s house from the window. He has money no one else has. Gatsby has this big, yellow car that he drives to town with. He is very mysterious in the beginning of the book, but as the book goes on he befriends Nick as he invites him to one of his many parties every weekend. We see that Gatsby is rich with his car and how he uses it to get around. It represents all the money he had and the business that he is doing. Gatsby’s life revolves around that he made money throughout when he was growing up, and how he earned the money. He earned the money to impress the one he is in love with. Gatsby can be defined by his clothing, and Fitzgerald says, “An hour later the front door opened nervously, and Gatsby, in a white flannel suit, silver shirt, gold-colored tie, hurried in”(Fitzgerald 84). Gatsby has expensive clothing which shows that he can buy nice clothing, and have lots of it. Depending on which kind of clothing you have, it can show how much wealth you
