285 Words2 Pages
The calm mood that Steinbeck portrays on page one of The Pearl is conveyed through the setting, plot elements and figurative language. The following quote is describing the setting. “Kino heard the little splash of morning waves on the bench. I was very good” (Steinbeck 1). Kino waking up, on the beach, enjoying the beautiful morning , unveils the reader his no-stress life style. Another element that helps setting the mood is the plot, the action that is described by the author. “Kino heard the little splash of morning waves on the beach . It was very good- Kino closed his eyes again to listen to his music…. In Kino’s head there was a song now, clear and soft, and if he had been able to speak it, he would have called it the Song of the Family”
