How Gaming has changed data communication - Its long since the day of dits and dahs back in 1844. Morse code, something we only see in old fashioned movies but back then this was the biggest breakthrough in terms of long distance communication. Morse code works by either a 1 or 0. 1 for on and 0 for off. unfortunately there were a few drawbacks to morse code including the necessity for skilled operators with the ability to work long tedious hours. From this point on the development of data communication has grown exponentially.
Several decades later (1876) Alexander Graham was granted his patent for the telephone which two years later was being implemented for public use. The first exchange was located in New Haven, Connecticut. The company …show more content…

Synchronous Transmission/Communication - Synchronous transmission works by sending data as one long stream of bits or a block (called frames or packets) of data. In synchronous transmission, each bit gets sent one after another with fixed time intervals. When the receiver of the transmission gets thier bits they reconstruct them into bytes. Timing is an integral part of synchronous data transmission as accuracy depends on the receiver keeping count of bits as they are received (synchronized with the sender).. Synchronous is used where time is a factor. Instant messaging, video or voice calls and even satellite transmissions for Cable TV. The reason synchronous is used in these applications is because it is fast and reliable since it runs of a clock signal making it great for other time-sensitive applications as well. VoIP and audio/video streaming also use synchronous transmission because they require a large amount of data to be sent very quickly. The only way to obtain these prerequisites is by using synchronous communication. …show more content…

Some examples of synchronous include voice or video calling. These rely on synchronous because the speed in which packets need to flow in order to view and transmit video is too large for asynchronous to allow. Synchronous is also important to keep the video live otherwise talking would be incredibly difficult. Facebook and skype offer an interface for your instant video and text messaging. Network devices like NICs, switches, routers and WAPs all use synchronous communication. Behind the scenes (in wireshark) you would see packets flying inbound and outbound; this makes scenes because when using networks, reliability and speed could cost a large business a lot of
